A Healthy and Tasty Evening with Chef Emmanuel Stroobant


To usher the auspicious Chinese New Year California Raisins gave us a treat at the Samplings On the Fourteen Restaurant at Berjaya University College with a four course dinner by 2-star Michelin celebrity Chef Emmanuel Stroobant along with guest Chef Erich Anton Roos using the versatile California Raisins in each of his dishes ❤️


Raisins may look very simple but they are one of nature’s healthier alternatives to those sugar-rich manufactured candies and sweet products! It contains 35% fructose and 35% glucose which is a good source of energy and has no fat & no cholesterol. I often use it as a healthy snack and I'm happy to learn that it is also a sugar replacement for many recipes in cooking and baking.


RAC’s Trade Promotions Director for Malaysia, Mr Richard Lieu says for most consumers, especially children, California Raisins are a healthy snack compared with other snack foods, as they are naturally sweet and do not contain any added sugar. Ms Tan Yen Sing, a certified clinical dietitian also was present to share on the goodness and benefits of California Raisins.
Ms Tan said studies have shown that increased consumption of fruits & vegetables more than 5 servings a day is related to a 17% reduction in coronary heart disease.

“Good nutrition is the best approach for preventing diseases and being healthy. Raisins, high level of polyphenol antioxidants containing about 3,037 ORAC units (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity – a method in measuring antioxidants in food) in about 2/3 cup. This essential substance are vital for protection against oxidative stress which is related to aging and disease,” said Tan.




My wonderful evening started off with a California Raisins, Crab & Cauliflower,
California Raisin Pasta With Fennel & Prawns and California Raisins With Beef Short Ribs & Winter Fruits by Chef Emmanuel Stroobant.



We also got to see all the Chef Emmanuel Stroobant and Chef Erich Anton Roos live in action as they cook right before you and shares some of his chef secrets and tips with you. It was certainly a fun and informative evening out.


The evening was finished in style with amazing desserts from Chef Erich Anton Rooscreated the Symphony of California Raisins consisting of California Raisin muffin with cream, California Raisin cinnamon ice cream and Apple puff.
