PICOPLUS Laser Treatment

by - July 22, 2019

Hey loves today I will be sharing my experience and knowledge about the recent laser skin care treatment I tired, the Pico Laser is really popular now and there are many different brands in the market, the one I happen to try is PICOPLUS Laser. This is a new laser technology for the treatment of pigmentation, wrinkles, acne scar treatment, tattoo removal, and overall skin rejuvenation.

PICOPLUS Laser is US FDA-approved system that was developed by Korea's pioneering aesthetic laser medical device company, LUTRONIC. It's proven to be safe and effective and at the moment it is the first machine approved by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS)

What is PICOPLUS laser?

PICOPLUS laser utilizes ultra-short laser pulses (picoseconds) to the targeted areas, resulting in greater disruption of the target for better clearance with fewer treatments, less fluence and without injury to the surrounding skin.

It's able to penetrate the skin without injuring the dermal-epidermal junction and it's capable of delivering lasers in picosecond duration - a 1000 times shorter than traditional lasers, which breaks down the pigmented lesion into smaller pigments. As a result, it is able to remove them effectively with little to no downtime.

The process

The therapist will first cleanse your face to make sure it's clean and dirt-free. Then, a medical-grade numbing cream is applied to prevent you from feeling any pain, waited for 30 minutes for my face to be fully numb, the laser process was quick and comfortable, I could feel the Dr using three different types of wavelengths on me because it all felt different, some felt a little prick, some was ticklish and some are so light I didn't feel anything. Right after the laser, a mask will be applied to help cool down the entire laser process.

Did it hurt?

No, it did not hurt at all my face was numb so I didn't feel a thing during the entire process. By the time the numbing effect went away, the skin felt pretty normal.

How long is the downtime?

The picture above is my skin right after the procedure, I had significant redness to the affected area. It will feel like a bad sunburn for nearly a week so I had to wait for the skin to clear up, I'll suggest you to plan your day of treatment because you wouldn't be really presentable and I was advised to let my skin heal without makeup.

How many sessions are required?

Well, it depends on your concern, mine were pigmentation, large pores, and uneven skin tone. I highly recommend you to discuss this with your doctor to help you achieve the skin you want. The treatments are done four to six weeks apart, and if desired, you can have the treatment continue every 2 to 3 months for maintenance or as needed.

How should I take care of my skin after the procedure?

During the consultation, I've explained to my Dr my skin is usually so dry it becomes so oily, apparently there's a cure to problems like that, to make this simple, my skin barrier is broken and no matter how expensive or how much products I apply onto it, it only stays on the surface of my skin and it won't be absorbed by my skin.

After the procedure, I was given two recovery cream from the Dr and I was told only to use these products and sunblock. To my suprise, my skin wasn't as dry as I thought it would be and by after a week, I was able to use my skincare products again.

My results?
Despite the downtime, I am really pleased with the results, my skin is smoother, I've got better skin tone, and my pigmentations and pores have reduce as you can see from the picture above.

It's been a month from my treatment and I just came back from my facial yesterday, the usual comment I get from my therapist is why is my skin so dry but this round she complimented me so I guess the treatment really did work.
