Does excessive sugar consumption affect our children’s behavior?

Parenting is considered one of the most difficult jobs in the world, it's hard and even your well-intended efforts can go the other way round but we all know the value and importance of raising healthy, happy kids. Although this may be the goal but the problem is figuring out how to get them to that point.

When Mina was just about 2 years old, I started noticing signs of her being really hyper, she is easily overwhelmed and has trouble listening to us, which worried us very much. After she wears herself out at the end of the day, we have a hard time putting her to bed because of her meltdowns. Honestly, this was a hard period for us, and it took us years to realize what the real issue behind it was and found a way to control the situation.

After some research online, I started looking into her diet, a well-balanced diet can benefit children in many ways such as stabilizing their energy and even out their moods and many more as the food pyramid suggests, we need a balanced diet with food from all 5 food groups— Fruits, Vegetables, Rice, other cereals, whole grain cereal-based products & tubers, Fish, poultry, eggs, meat & legumes, and Milk & milk products.

We started with making small shifts to nutritious foods, looking for alternatives, while we were doing that we noticed that not all milk are the same and I just realized how much sugar Mina was taking at that point, she was a big eater, meaning she’ll take milk 3 times a day. Thank goodness after discussing my problem with a friend, she recommended me to try out Anmum ESSENTIAL and I managed to get samples from their official website. We understand that many foods contain naturally occurring sugar but now I try to avoid foods with added sugar because all these extra sugars just add empty calories to our diets. Based on a few papers that I read, it may even contribute to obesity, dental caries, and even sweet tooth.

Additionally, I have also learned from a study shared in Anmum ESSENTIAL website that excessive sugar intake might affect cognitive development such as learning. Studies showed that with an increase of sugar-sweetened beverage consumption, verbal intelligence score is reduced by 2.4 points per serving/day. This is why it is very important to control the sugar consumption of our children.

Mina accepted Anmum™ ESSENTIAL happily and I tested the milk powder making sure she has no problem after consuming it and I had no regrets ever since it’s been 2 years and we are still giving her Anmum™ ESSENTIAL. I believe that providing Mina with good nutrition is crucial to support her all rounded growth and development.
