DIY Project with Nippon Paint Gold Paint

by - September 25, 2019

Hi my dear readers! Remember a post I recently did on Transforming items at home with the dazzling GOLD paint?

Well, I was getting bored with my items looking dull at home and I wanted to makeover a part of my home to give the rooms a different look and feel and I was thinking to myself, what are the secret tricks to make the rooms look more expensive and luxurious?

An idea then popped into my mind and I decided to transform my ordinary looking living room to a delightful looking space since it’s an area that my family and I spend a lot of time in! With the long weekend coming up, I thought that this would be a good time to DIY on my own without breaking the bank!

Did you know that adding a few gold accents can easily accentuate your space and make it look elegant and special? Gold is the ultimate trend; it’s rich, adventurous and a classy colour to have anywhere - it really works well in any room and matches any types of style. An inexpensive way to add gold details into your home interiors is by giving your old furniture a makeover with the Nippon Paint Gold Paint!

Here are the 3 items I've selected from my home to makeover for this DIY project!

#1 Mason Jar

Just an ordinary glass jar before I gave it a coat of paint. All I needed was some tape to create a design and Nippon Paint Gold Paint to give it a makeover! See below for the result!

Gold mason jars just seem to work so well for some reason – overall it has a minimalist and chic look to it! I wanted a gold striped mason jar so what I did was I taped the middle part and painted it with a layer of gold paint, let it dry and voila! I've got myself a beautiful mason jar – just like the ones you see on Pinterest! I love that you can peep through and see your flower stems through the unpainted areas, why not pair it with some white peonies or roses for a winning combo?

#2 High Stool

These gold-painted stools were so easy to makeover and required only two coats of the gold paint. After I let it dry, I applied a thin coat of the gold paint, allowed it to dry, applied another thin coat and let it dry completely. Fast forward X hours, I have myself a new high stool!

Before…and after! Spot my freshly painted mason jar/flower pot in the background!

#3 Clothes Rack

The result of giving my clothes rack a coat of Nippon Paint Gold Paint, doesn’t it give off a vintage vibe? It now looks as good as new!

I've had this clothes rack for ages and I'm so glad that I gave it a makeover. This process is similar to what I did with my high stool - I began with one thin layer of Nippon Paint Gold Paint and after letting it dry, I applied another layer and let it dry for around 4 hours for it completely dry before hanging my work attire with white hangers.

When I was working on this DIY project, I used the Nippon Paint Gold Paint to give the items a super lasting gold finish and this is a water-based acrylic paint that is great for interior & exterior use. I really love its ability to dry quickly and when I say “quickly”, I actually mean that newly painted items take only around 2 to 4 hours to dry. How great is that?!
