Mr. Chew's Chino Latino Bar The Penthouse WOLO Hotel KL

by - June 23, 2017

Every woman loves being pampered and it was the sweetest thing when my husband told me where he was going to bring me on my birthday. He hardly shows me how much he loves me and sometimes I feel like he has forgotten about it but this round he proved me wrong. We met at a club when I was 21 years old and we got together on my 22nd birthday where we celebrated it in a Latin Restaurant, which is why he selected this newly open Latin Restaurant - Mr Chew's Chino Latino Bar. #blessedwithasupersweethubby

Mr. Chew's Chino Latino Bar is located at the penthouse in WOLO Hotel KL. The restaurant is posh, modern and homey and I love the view that I was getting from the top floor, unfortunately, the top floor where I was seated at was shaking the entire time which made it slightly uncomfortable to dine at but other than that the atmosphere, service, and food were great. The food was a mixture of Chinese, Latin American, a little bit of Japanese and Vietnamese.

Ordered my favorite Gin & Tonic RM42 for drinks, I love how it came in a takeaway box! The bartender gave it a twist with pink peppercorn spices and guava but it was too strong for my liking but for those who love strong drinks do give this a try.

To kick start our dinner, our waiter came by our table with 6 appetizers and we were asked to choose 3, so here are my choices for the night. Pickled Papaya, White Fungus & Pumpkin RM5

Coconut milk poached chicken salad with Chinese cabbage, pickled cucumber, roast peanuts, Vietnamese mint & chili RM35. The salad was very sourish and spicy, it was not love at first bite but we find it quite soothing towards the end.

Now to my favorite dish of the day, Soft Shell Crab Pancake Roll with Avacado, Nori and Light Wasabi Mayo RM38. It was absolutely delicious, seeing some Japanese influence here, the soft pancake roll and the crunchy soft shell crab compliment each other.

Almond crusted prawn toast with crab mayo & salmon roe RM68 was the prawn toast was chunky and crispy, the crab mayo dressing really enhances the flavors of this dish.

Mr Chew's Favorites RM50 was a satisfying dessert, I wish I had more and I think I ate most of it, from left Banana Burrito served with deep fried banana wrapped in Tonka Bean ice cream, shaved gula melaka and coconut.

Next we had Lycee Ice Kacang with lychee bavarois, crème brûlée, shaved ice of lemon, earl gray & ginger mint, and the lovely raspberry marshmallow and last but not least the crunchy sweet mango & strawberry tacos.

Apart from the restaurant, Mr. Chew's has another bar just for drinks, if you love a chilling, relaxing place to talk then this is the place to be but is not entirely ready yet, I was told there will be DJ's coming in by July and I can't wait to come back and salsa my night away.

Thank you my dearest hubby for pampering me at Mr. Chew's Chino Latino Bar, it was a unique dining experience and I can't wait to come back for more!
