foodpanda Kicks Off Season Of Giving With Special Heartfelt Donations

by - December 10, 2021

In conjunction with the Year End festivities and season of giving, foodpanda Malaysia
has once again hit us right in the feels with special donations to their brand ambassadors’ charity of choice via a game show - pandamart Sweep!

The winner of the pandamart Sweep will receive RM10,000 worth of pandamart supplies donated to their charity of choice and will also walk away with a RM1,000 pandamart voucher but thanks to the generosity of foodpanda all the charity houses will receive the same prize too. To add an element of surprise, all three brand ambassadors were only informed once they completed the pandamart Sweep Challenge and representatives from all their selected charity homes were present.

Commenting on this impactful initiative, Bernard Chong, Director of Marketing said that this was unlike any other CSR initiative that they have done in the past. “This year, we were looking to do something different hence why we decided to have our brand ambassadors compete in our very own pandamart Sweep and win RM10,000 worth of pandamart supplies for their charity of choice.”

No stranger to the Malaysian entertainment scene, these brand ambassadors include television host, radio announcer and event emcee, Aishah Sinclair, singer, model and actress, Elizabeth Tan, and Malaysian vlogger and successful Youtuber, Tanesh Vijayagomaran.

“These brand ambassadors were carefully handpicked by our team to represent diversity in Malaysia and appeal to our audiences from all walks of life. Additionally, we felt that they have quite the impact and influence in society with loyal followers who would try and follow their tips and tricks, advice as well as suggestions that they have shared on social media,” added Bernard.

pandamart Sweep was inspired by the American game show, Supermarket Sweep, located at the pandamart outlet, a list of items were given to all three ambassadors and they are required to collect all items within a given time but here's the twist to make things fun, instead of referring to the items in a grocery list, they would need to listen to it from a rap song.

Each of these brand ambassadors will listen to different versions of the rap and try to get all the items within 3 minutes. Each of them will take turns to go through over 4,500 different items in pandamart and find the 18 items from the rap song. The winner of this game would then walk away with the prize, which will be donated to the charity of their choice.

“The charity of my choice was OrphanCare Foundation, which is a non-governmental organisation that helps rescue babies from baby dumping and assists in adoption. The reason that I chose to go with this charity is that it always broke my heart to hear about unwanted and unplanned babies. With a place like OrphanCare, they can have a chance of survival and find a home that will love and care for them,” said Malaysian celebrity, Aishah Sinclair.

Elizabeth Tan, on the other hand, had chosen Agape Outreach to the blind, a non-profit organisation that caters to the visually impaired and blind. She believes that love is not blind and would like to raise awareness on how to help support the visually impaired.

Separately, Malaysian Youtuber, Tanesh Vijayagomaran picked Anbe Sivam Charity Home, an orphanage for children as well as children with disabilities and special needs as his charity of choice. As a kid back then, his parents would drive past this center every day and he would see the children playing outside. It was then that he decided that when we grew up, he would try his best to help them in one way or another.
